How is M.J. Bale 'certified carbon neutral'?

Climate Active certification is awarded to businesses and organisations that have achieved a state of net zero emissions, otherwise known as carbon neutrality. To be carbon neutral means we are taking action to reduce and remove as much carbon from the atmosphere as we have put in through the process of manufacturing, shipping and retailing our garments.

M.J. Bale has worked closely with our consultant and environmental scientist, Andrew Moore, to conduct a carbon Life Cycle Analysis baseline study on both our organisation and products. At its completion, we were able to discern our total carbon emissions contributions. Following the verification of our measured footprint by a third-party verifier, we then offset our entire carbon footprint through investment in green projects in Australia, such as the Yarra Yarra Biodiversity Corridor and offshore wind projects, that reduce or remove carbon from the atmosphere. By doing all this, we have been able to reduce our carbon footprint to net zero.
