How has M.J. Bale offset their carbon footprint?

M.J. Bale purchase's carbon offsets to take responsibility for our unavoidable emissions and become carbon neutral. We have invested in 3 projects, the Yarra Yarra Biodiversity Corridor in southwestern Australia, and wind-based power generation projects in India and China.

Yarra Yarra Biodiversity Corridor Project is in the process of restoring 13,500 hectares to the northern wheatbelt of Southwestern Australia, over 30 million mixed native species trees and shrubs have been planted in the Yarra Yarra Biodiversity Corridor since 2008. The project’s long-term objective is to connect the newly revegetated areas with the remaining vegetation and 12 nature reserves to create a ‘green’ corridor.

The Chakala Wind-Based Power Generation Project in India replaces the need for diesel generators with 26 machines that generate power using wind energy, a renewable energy source. The project is a clean technology investment in the region, while also helping to reduce the demand supply gap in the state. The project will generate power using zero emissions wind-based power generation which helps to reduce GHG emissions and specific pollutants like SOx, NOx, and SPM associated with the conventional thermal power generation facilities.

The Hebei Yuxian Second-Phase Wind Power Project in China is a large-scale wind farm conceived to convert wind energy into electricity. The project displaces electricity that would be provided to the grid by more GHG-intensive means, such as electricity generated by the burning of fossil fuels by the North China Grid (NPCG). To date the project has achieved net greenhouse gas emission reductions of 635,607 tonnes CO2-e. There is no consumption of fossil fuels used in the generation of Hebei’s wind power and thus no greenhouse gas emissions.
